Secret Santa

Yesterday I got to participate in a Secret Santa gift exchange, and let me tell you, those things are a blast. Even if they're sort of silly, I think it's still a fun way to get a group of people in the festive spirit. I'm also a big fan of the White Elephant game, where you can give away crazy things and see who ends up with it. But, for Secret Santa I gave away a blanket, a mug, and a candle as a gift, and I received the items in the photo above. As you can see, I went ahead and devoured all of the chocolate & colored in my stocking. Such a cute gift. Is Secret Santa something you've participated in?

p.s. If any of you are in college & going through finals, best of luck to you. I pulled an all nighter last night... and those Hershey kisses are about the only thing got me through. That, and Christmas music.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

I always start to want to make change around this time of year. Maybe it's the changing of the seasons, or getting back into school, but all of the sudden I feel like something isn't right. I want a hair cut or I want to focus on working out again. I second guess myself and wonder if I'm choosing the right path in life (whoa, there). I think about my future and worry and stress myself out and it just all becomes kind of silly. Sure, I think it's healthy to question yourself, to mentally check-in and see how things are going, but I don't think it is okay to worry so much. Change is good, it's a natural thing, but you have to slow down a bit. There's no need to change everything at once. So, just calm down. You won't be able to change everything overnight.

Now, hopefully I can take my own advice.

Photo Friday

I could not be more happy that it's finally Friday. Today I just wanted to share a few things that have made me smile this week.

I don't think I'm quite this addicted to social media, but sometimes I get pretty close. Although, I did fall asleep with my laptop the other night...

I miss my dog so much. Every time I see a puppy walking around my heart melts. It may not be good for my health, but I follow World of Labs on Instagram and it makes me so happy... and then miss my dog more.

I love this picture. I recently found it on Pinterest, and I fell back in love. I'm pretty sure I had this on my MySpace profile back in middle school. Too cool.

I have yet to see The Great Gatsby and I'm going a bit crazy. Hopefully I can borrow it from someone, because I just keep watching the trailer in awe.

And a fun little quote to leave you all with. This is one of Sarah Trumbauer's sweet prints. I was recently given one of them, and I just adore it.

I know I say this every Friday, but I really do hope you have a wonderful weekend. Be sure to take some time to relax and get away from the stresses of the work week. Have a great one!

DIY: Sea Glass Frame

Back in May my family and I went up to Maryland for my brother's graduation. We were staying at a house right on the water, and spent a lot of time walking on the beach looking for sea glass. I've been wanting to do something with it for a while, and just recently gave an old picture frame a makeover.

I picked up these 2 frames at Goodwill. I think they were even on sale, and my total came out to be 75 cents or something crazy cheap like that. I ended up using the one on the right for this project!

I painted the frame first with this acrylic paint -- huge mistake. What was I thinking? I got this because it is usually the cheapest paint I can find. It took a million layers, but it turned out just fine. I used tacky glue to adhere the sea glass on, which worked very well.

A few of the pieces we found while collecting.

Waiting for everything to dry! It was a night of crafting, so I was making this while watching Identity Thief. Fun times.

I've yet to print any photos from the Annapolis trip, so until then this photo is hanging out in the frame. A throwback to one of my mission trips with my best friends.

I hope you all enjoyed this DIY! I like to keep things simple when it comes to these projects. In the next couple weeks I'll be sharing a few DIY ideas on how to spruce up your dorm room, so stay tuned!

You can check out my last DIY here!

Happy 4th of July!

Sparkler
Sparklers, anyone?

Happy Fourth everyone! Today is my day off, so hopefully I'm still asleep when this posts, enjoying the holiday. I'm ready to spend the day eating pie, wearing red, white, & blue, and watching fireworks. Every week at the summer camp I work at we have a new theme, and this weeks is "USA." We've been doing fun crafts like making Uncle Sam masks and finger painting flags. It's all been very fun, & it's gotten me in a good mood for the Fourth. Whether you are celebrating the holiday or you live in another country, I hope you have a absolutely lovely day! What are your plans? Be sure to come back tomorrow for a very patriotic Photo Friday!

p.s. This is the first GIF I've ever made, and I'm super proud. I don't mean to brag, but yes I do.

Photo Friday (in Black & White)

Last weekend I spent an entire day cleaning and reorganizing my room and I love how it has turned out. The week month before that it had been a wreck, and it just stressed me out. Now, I look forward to curling up in bed and watching a movie without having to climb over mountains of stuff. I've actually enjoyed figuring out where I want to put things, and which items should go where. Ever clean your room? You should try it.

Eiffel Tower + I Love Lucy

I managed to organize some of my shoes, but they won't stay this way for long.

I keep magazines out because I think I'm fancy.

But then I have things like this to remind me I'm not.

My brother has given me a few different pieces of his uniforms.

They're just way too cool not to keep out somewhere.

A little shell for my pearls to sleep in at night.

Oh, hey there blog.

Well I am certainly glad it's Friday. I'll be taking full advantage of this weekend, and I hope you do the same. Relax a bit, and have a wonderful time!
