Photo Friday

I've officially been in school 3 weeks, and I can't believe how fast time is flying by. I will admit though, I'm still not completely used to this schedule... hence the lack of posts on here (sorry about that). It's going to be a crazy, busy semester, but I'll keep posting as always. It might get sparse here and there, but I love this too much to give it up. Anyways, I hope you all are having a good Friday so far. It's finally the weekend and I couldn't be more happy.

It's been a week full of sunsets,

sunrises,

filming,

friends,

and adventures.

Have a wonderful weekend! See you on Monday.

Finding Happiness

We're a couple weeks into the new year already, but I wanted to share one goal of mine that I've found to be quite helpful. This was a resolution of mine last year as well, which was to do more things that made me happy. Vague, yes, but it is something that I think is so important.

I've realized that I'm in a huge transitioning period of my life. I'm constantly trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm constantly taking new classes, living in new places, finding new part time jobs, etc, etc. I'm someone who doesn't always take changes easily... so this leads me to a lot of worrying, a lot of stress, and a lot of focus on the future instead of what's happening right now.

What I have to do, and what many of us surely need to do, is constantly remind ourselves that we deserve happiness. Whatever your worries are in life are assuredly valid, important reasons to stress about-- but we can't live with just the worries. We deserve to be happy. We deserve to do what it takes to find that happiness.

So do something that makes you happy. Start small-- take a walk, read a book, talk to an old friend, make cookies, donate your old clothes, or watch that movie you've been wanting to see. Then maybe move onto something big-- finally set a date, go on a mission trip, move, let go of a bad influence, lose that weight, or find a new job.

The thing I've realized about the typical New Year's Resolutions is that they're usually all things that will bring you happiness. Things that will better yourself. And remember that taking those steps to find happiness isn't a selfish thing... it's actually kind of necessary. You really deserve it.

Let me know one thing that you'll be doing to find happiness. I'll definitely be sharing some the things I do on here with you guys.

I hope you have a happy weekend.

Can't Wait

We're getting closer & closer! I really can't wait. One more week of work and finishing up school stuff and then I can head home. I need to do a bit more Christmas shopping and decorating once I'm there, so I'm very excited. I hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing Sunday! See you tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I hope today brings you happiness and very full tummies. I have sort of taken a break from blogging this week, but I have very exciting news that may or may not involve Christmas (hint: it does)! However, today is about giving thanks... and although we may be decorating our tree tonight, I'm going to try to focus on this great holiday. Go eat some turkey! And remember to count all of the wonderful blessings you have. Have a wonderful day!

Photo Friday

This week has been a pretty cool one so far. Although I've known what I wanted to major & minor in since I came to school, I officially did it this week! I am now (officially) a Media Studies major with a Photography minor. I'm pretty dang happy about it. Today I'm headed to Atlanta for Georgia Tech's homecoming... but mainly to see my best friend Anna. I can't wait. Plus, it's officially November! We are one month away from Christmastime people, get ready. And in honor of me officially declaring my major/minor, I thought I'd share some work from my Pinhole Photography class for today's Photo Friday. I'll probably do a more in depth post about Pinhole later on, but this is what I have for now!

Happy November! I hope you have a spectacular weekend.

Happy Halloween!

I won't lie, Halloween is one of my least favorite holidays (what a great way to start off this Happy Halloween post, Molly). There is a very long, silly explanation as to why I hate it, but I won't go there. I just don't like scary, creepy things. No, no, no. I do, however, like the fact that it's Fall. I like the fact that we're closer to Christmas. I like that there's pumpkins and candy corn and adorable baby costumes... but that's about it. In the spirit of Halloween though (I do love me a holiday), I thought I'd have at least one Halloween themed post: a compilation of Pinterest pictures. Who would've guessed.

Happy Halloween! I hope you eat lots and lots of candy.

Food, Flowers, & Fun

Happy, happy Monday to you all! This is the first Monday I haven't had to wake up at 6 am in quite some time, and I can't complain. Friday was my last day of work, & though I'm sad I won't get to see all the kiddos anymore, I'm quite happy to have some time to relax. In just a few days I head back to school, so it's nice to have a few days off before then. I spent a lot of this weekend catching up on sleep, eating good food, and fighting off some sort of cold/allergy thing that's going on in my nose. So fun.

To celebrate work being over/summer/I was just thirsty, Amanda and I got slushies. Contrary to what it says, it only cost 52 cents. I opted for a cherry/coke combo.

I can't resist taking pictures of flowers. It's just in my nature. ;)

My mom actually had a Saturday off from work! So we spent some of the day shopping, and eating at Tubby's. I love, love their crab stew.

A lovely pond/fountain filled with fishies that I saw while we were out shopping.

First fresh corn of the summer season. My mom and I were seriously questioning ourselves because we haven't been eating it all summer long.

Last night my dad took me to Leoci's for dinner before I head back to school. I had spaghetti & meatballs and it was delicious.

My outfit for dinner! Of course, I managed to spill sauce on the single white strip of fabric on my new shirt. Geeze.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Photo Friday

Today's Photo Friday is going to be short and sweet! Yesterday I spent all day sleeping, making pie, listening to country music, and heading downtown for pizza & fireworks. I love holidays like this that are tons of fun, but also remind you of what really matters. I'll be saying a prayer for all of those men and women who are away from their friends & families today so that I can be with mine. I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July & have an incredible weekend!

Happy 4th of July!

Sparkler
Sparklers, anyone?

Happy Fourth everyone! Today is my day off, so hopefully I'm still asleep when this posts, enjoying the holiday. I'm ready to spend the day eating pie, wearing red, white, & blue, and watching fireworks. Every week at the summer camp I work at we have a new theme, and this weeks is "USA." We've been doing fun crafts like making Uncle Sam masks and finger painting flags. It's all been very fun, & it's gotten me in a good mood for the Fourth. Whether you are celebrating the holiday or you live in another country, I hope you have a absolutely lovely day! What are your plans? Be sure to come back tomorrow for a very patriotic Photo Friday!

p.s. This is the first GIF I've ever made, and I'm super proud. I don't mean to brag, but yes I do.

Father's Day & Berry Pie

I'm sure many of you follow Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere and saw this post about a delicious Triple Berry Pie. For Father's Day I thought it would be a nice gift to make for my Daddy, so I took on this one. I've actually never made a pie before, and this one was surprisingly easy to start out with. Though, I have two things to confess: 1. I did cheat on the meal plan I'm on (but it was a special occasion) & 2. I bought the pie crust. Ooops.

I also got to spend some time with my Dad at an Equestrian Center that helps teach kids with special needs how to ride. We ended up just being there for a raffle drawing, but maybe I'll get to go back again and help out another day. I don't think there are any fathers who read my blog, but if there's one out there I hope you had a Happy Father's Day! p.s. The pie was a success!

How crazy is that rooster? Let me know how you spent your Father's Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

Today my family and I are traveling home after a long and wonderful week. We got to spend the week enjoying each other's company, eating way too much food, and seeing my brother graduate. Seeing all of the men and women graduate from the USNA and getting commissioned was amazing. It makes me so proud and so thankful for those who choose to serve our country and do something incredible. Be sure to say a little prayer or send good thoughts their way today, and to the families of those who have passed. There are people who put their lives at risk everyday for our freedom, and we need to remember to be so very thankful of that.

What will you be doing on your day off?

It's Birthday Time!

This morning I woke up to sweet messages from my friends, flowers on my doorstep, and a brownie for breakfast which can only mean one thing-- it's my birthday! Today I'm turning 19 and it feels great. This week and this day have already been incredible and it is supposed to get even better! Can you imagine? I'm such a lucky girl and I feel so very blessed. I have a feeling today will be pretty fantastic and I can't wait to share it with you all. For now though, I'm going to go get ready for the day. Happy Friday to you all, I hope you have an amazing weekend!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to my sweet Mommy. I love you so much and you deserve the world. You work so hard, you have such a big heart, and I couldn't ask for more than you've given me. I hope you take today as a special reminder to what a wonderful mom you have been to two pretty cool kids. We owe it all to you. Love you.

I hope all of you moms out there are having a fantastic day. Take today to treat yourself, and to forget about all the work that needs to be done. The papers and the messes can wait until tomorrow. I hope you all know just how special you are. Happy Mother's Day to you all.
