Photo Friday

It's been a crazy couple of weeks getting back into the routine of things. Now that I'm back at school I don't have quite as much time on my hands, so I haven't been updating as much. But thank you all for hanging around while I figure things out! I'm so glad it's finally the weekend, and a long one too. I'm excited to watch some football, hang out with my friends, and not worry about school (and finding yet another job).

Amanda came to visit me when I got to school. My room was a little freezing.

Throwing it back to our younger crafting days. Me and my brother are quite the artists.

Red, buff, and green roses for Recruitment Week. It was crazy hectic, but so awesome. Go AGD!

Our Bid Day banner! I adore it.

Getting this sweet print & letter in the mail made my day. Thanks Tara!

Enjoy your time off & have a lovely weekend!

Dorm Decor Tips

First off, I want to apologize that I haven't been posting as frequently as I have before. I have a whole list of excuses, but basically I'm still trying to find time to balance everything now that I'm back at school. So, posts will continue! I'm just figuring out how to manage it all. Now that that's out of the way... Today I wanted to share a few dorm decorating tips with you. Like I said in my last post, a dorm room tour will be coming in the future, so look out for that.

1. Add color! Pick a color, any color. Dorm rooms usually look a little lifeless until you add some color. This turquoise color is one of my favorites, so I add it around my room where I can.

2. Bring a bazillion pictures. Whether it's in a frame, on a cork board, or just taped to your wall, a photo is going to add a personal touch. When you see your favorite pictures around your room, it'll make you feel more at home.

3. Take your favorite things. Whatever makes you happy. A guitar, a lamp, trinkets, flowers, a teddy bear (yes, I still sleep with my teddy bear)-- really any decor item that you love. This is another way to add a few more personal touches to your room.

4. Don't store everything away! Keep some of your makeup brushes and perfume bottles out of the drawers. Hang up a bright bag, scarf, or umbrella. Be careful, because too much can look a little cluttered.

5. Get crafty. The cheapest way to decorate your walls is to make it yourself. Plus, it'll give you something to do with all your free time (ha, rightttt). Paint + a canvas and you're good to go.

6. Must haves. First, get yourself a storage cube. It adds a pop of color, you can store random junk in it, and it'll keep you from ninja jumping into your bed every night. Second, get twinkly lights. They instantly add a homey/ cozy feeling to your room.

I am all out of tips for now, but I do hope you enjoyed. Comment below if you have any dorm decor tips! I'd love to read them all.

Pinspiration: Dorm Life

Everybody loves Pinterest right? I go back and forth with it-- sometimes I'm obsessed, and sometimes I don't go on it for weeks. Since I've been at college, I've loved looking at dorm room inspiration. People on Pinterest are so clever. Tomorrow I'll be sharing a couple ways I've incorporated some of these ideas into my own room. I haven't quite finished decorating, but a full dorm room tour is definitely in the future. Stay tuned for all the dorm room goodness!

Empty Products #2

This post won't be reviewing as many products as my last empty products post, but there's still some good stuff to be talked about! Some of these products have become all time favorites, while some haven't impressed me quite as much.

I talked about the conditioner version of this product here, but I thought I'd mention the shampoo as well. I've really been loving this shampoo, and I purchase it over and over again, but the one thing it isn't great at is clarifying. I'll have to rinse and repeat once or twice sometimes. I think it's about time to invest in a shampoo actually made to clarify my hair.

I originally bought this product because I saw it was recommended for combination skin in a magazine--  fun little fact for you. I don't feel like this cleanser did anything amazing for my skin, so I probably won't repurchase it, but it was good while it lasted.

This little bottle lasted forever. I would use it every now & then when I wanted to switch up what soap I was using, but really a little went a very long way. I may have had this for a year or 2 (probably way longer than you should be hanging on to shower gel) but I really did like it. The smell was very refreshing, and it lathered with just a little product on a loofa.

You can see that there's still a little bit of this product left, but I thought I'd go ahead and include it before it completely runs out. I prefer to use powder & concealer over a foundation, so I have tried out several powders. This one gives a nice, light coverage but I find that it doesn't mattify my skin as well as others have in the past. Can't say that I'll be repurchasing this one.

Last, but not least, is my new favorite moisturizer. I'd been looking for a good moisturizer that wouldn't break me out or leave my skin feeling greasy, and this definitely does that for me. It's somewhere between 13-15 dollars, but it lasted me about 6 months. That's impressive, considering I used it about every day. I really love that this is a natural product & it's targeted for my skin type. I'm already using another bottle of it.

I'd love to know your thoughts on any of these products! Anything I should try out next?

Begin Again

Mondays and I have an interesting relationship. Usually I despise them, because that means I have to head back to school/work. There are those rare occasions though, when I see them as a new beginning, and that's when I start to think Mondays aren't so bad. I start my Sophomore year of college tomorrow which is just crazy to me. I know there are many crazy & exciting & tiring Mondays ahead of me, but I think I'm ready for it. To those of you who are starting back at school, or work, or really anything.. I wish you the best of luck! I think it's going to be a great year.

Moving in to College!

Last Friday my mom drove me up to school for move-in day! I decided I wanted to film a little video to remember the momentous occasion. I know how everyone loves heading back to school, I start in just a few days! Bleah. Anyway, let me know how you like the video. Enjoy! Oh... and happy Friday!

Sometimes

This week/weekend have been a bit crazy. I moved into school on Friday and have been pretty busy since then. So, I do apologize for the lack of posts that may be happening. Now that school is starting, I'm going to have to find a balance between school & work & life & blogging. I hope you can stick around while I figure it all out. I'll be posting as much as I can (which may be random) until I figure out some sort of schedule!

Photo Friday

Happy happy Friday! Right now I'm probably in the car headed back to school. Today is my day to move in, and it honestly feels weird to go back! Summer has kind of flown by and it's an odd feeling knowing that it's ending. I've taken some fun pictures that sort of sum up how my last few weeks of summer have been. I hope you enjoy!

Glad I got to spend some time with these cool kids. "Camping" success.

Quickly taking this picture before the mosquitoes ate us to death.

It's not too often you see sunflowers down here. I was so happy when I saw 4 of them at work!

Fluoride rinse. They handed me the little spit-sucker, I didn't steal it I promise.

Sombreros. Amigos. Mustachos. Check.

Even though work could be a bit of a headache, I really will miss those sweet kiddos. Definitely an awesome summer job.

Finally bought myself some Chacos! Love them.

Got a haircut just in time to go back to school. Still kept it long, but I think it's been about 4 years since I've had side bangs.

Again, happy Friday to you. Have an amazing weekend! Anyone want to help me unpack?

Back to School Thoughts

This month's Thursday Theme is all about going back to school. Since I head back tomorrow, I wanted to share a couple thoughts that I've been having with you all... I feel like I haven't done that in a while. It seems like yesterday I was headed to college for the first time, really not knowing what to expect. Although I've made some good friends and I sort of know what to expect from classes now, I have a bit of that same feeling. Sometimes we're just thrown into things and it takes a while to figure them out. You're in high school and all of the sudden you have to pick a college and a major, and once your there you have to think about a job, and money, and your future... and it can be really scary. I'm going into my Sophomore year though, so I do have some time to figure things out even if the thoughts are always in the back of your head. But, despite all the stress about future and all of that confusion, my goal for this year is to not worry too much. To just relax, have fun with my friends, find out where I fit into this crazy world... and of course get good grades. So I'll leave you with that, and with a few snapshots from my Freshman year.
